Dear readers: Listen to your gut

Marilia Pereira on a mountain

This Women’s Health Month, we’re empowering you to take charge of your health. Expanding on the pillars that shape CanPrev Women, we will be highlighting the health journeys of four amazingly courageous women. Women who felt that something was ‘off’ in their bodies, and took matters into their own hands in an effort to reclaim their health. We hope these stories inspire you to take a page out of their book, so you can feel your best.

Dear readers,

Have you been tuning into your body lately? Our bodies are always leaving hints and clues to communicate with us. This communication can come in many forms – cravings, mood swings, headaches, fatigue, and even digestive issues.

This was the case for Marilia Pereira, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, who suffered from numerous digestive issues growing up. Starting in her teens, she found her day-to-day life was slowed down by bloating, constipation, and that general sluggish feeling that comes with poor digestion. But Marilia decided to listen to the digestive complaints she was experiencing, and make some changes for the better.

The takeaway? That occasional gut feeling that something is off in your body is important to explore. You know your body better than anyone, and tuning into these feelings can help you take the steps needed to feel your best.

Check out our conversation with Marilia, as she tells us all about her digestive journey and how she took a chance on eliminating a few key foods from her diet on her journey to feeling her best. Taking that first step may be hard, but it worked out in Marilia’s favour, and it may work for you too.

Until next time,
